A beautiful handcrafted sterling silver brooch inspired by the botanical branching structures found in Cladonia lichens.
The surface of this piece has been reticulated, a jewellery technique which uses heat to manipulate the surface of sterling silver so it becomes fluid, giving a rippling textured surface.
The sterling silver wire elements have been fused into place using heat, this process is unpredictable, softening and melding the wires to the surface as they fuse together giving a natural organic feel.
Edges and wire elements have been highlighted by burnishing and the main surface of the piece has been gently patinated to give a soft mottled finish. The piece is approximately 4 x 4.5cm in diameter with a double stainless steel pin fastening.
