Silver jewellery beginners – Wednesday evenings 5.15 -7.15pm (£240)

Kate runs a range of jewellery workshops at Rufford on Saturdays and/or Sundays from 10.30 - 4.30 in the newly completed creative workspace at Rufford Craft Centre.

Saturday December 4th 2010 – Silver rings workshop

Suitable for beginners and improvers

An ideal workshop for those who love silver jewellery and want to try their hand at producing original pieces to wear and impress friends. Kate will guide you through making up to three silver rings using both sheet and wire, and use techniques including soldering, forming, sawing, hammering and filing to produce a high quality finish. You can make a set of three showing different finishes to the surface or keep one and go away with two more beautiful gifts for your friends.

Saturday September 11th 2010 – Silver bracelets workshop

Suitable for beginners and improvers

This workshop offers the opportunity to make two silver bracelets; a bangle style bracelet on which you will be able to explore surface decoration and a link bracelet to give you additional skills and techniques and a more fluid look for another outfit. This workshop will introduce you to techniques including soldering, forming, sawing, hammering and filing.

Saturday October 16th 2010 – Silver pendants workshop

Suitable for beginners and improvers

An ideal workshop for those who love silver jewellery and want to try their hand at producing original pieces. Kate will guide you through designing and making your pendant using a combination of silver sheet and wire and will show you how to use a range of techniques including piercing, soldering, hammering, doming, filing and surface decoration.

You may like to bring a chain, ribbon or cord with you so you can wear your pendant at the end of the day. There will also be some lengths of chain/cable available to buy on the day if you prefer.

Saturday October 9th 2010 – Silver Wrap Rings

Suitable for beginners and improvers

This new workshop offers the opportunity to make and embellish a ring of your own design using several different lengths / shapes of silver wire. Kate will guide you through all the key techniques including soldering, sawing, filing, forming and burnishing, leaving you to enjoy wearing the results of your new talents.

Saturday July 10th 2010 – Silver earrings workshop

Suitable for beginners and improvers

This workshop offers the opportunity to have a go at making drop, stud and hoop earrings. Kate will ensure that even a novice participant will be able to create a range of original and wearable earrings to impress your friends. You will be able to explore surface decoration techniques and use both silver sheet and wire. This workshop will introduce you to techniques including soldering, doming, sawing, hammering and filing.

These enjoyable workshops are suitable for those with no previous experience of jewellery making as well as those looking to improve their skills. All tools and materials are included in the workshop fee.

Kate also runs jewellery workshops at The Beetroot Tree Gallery. The gallery exhibits a range of different artists upstairs in the Jacobean Barn and also has a newly refurbished Café serving a tempting selection of handmade cakes with speciality leaf teas and freshly ground coffee.
